The mining boom lived in La Union at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century are reflected in the buildings of the town, when it was known as the European “New California”.
Walking around the town centre visitors will admire the Old Market Hall (also known as the cathedral of flamenco singing), the “Piñon House” (where the Town Hall and Tourist Office are situated), both Listed Buildings as Historical and Artistic Monuments, and the Church Our Lady of Rosary. There are also other remarkable buildings such as “El Progreso”, the house of the rich families of mining owners “Zapata Maestre” or the “Liceo de Obreros”, where the Mining Museum is situated.
